Huber's Berg

Markus Huber is a talented winemaker....and was voted 'Best White Wine Producer' at the International Wine Competition in London. The property is in the 10th generation. After the Riesling...time for a GV.
Some intersting wine notes at David McDuff's wine blog.

Huber Grüner Veltliner Berg 2008
Traisenthal, Niederösterreich, Austria
Medium yellow colour...an aroma of yellow apples...pears..and honey melons...superb balance..and a terroir wine..with loads of minerals...lays on the tongue like velvet on sawdust...and a good finish. Excellent with some Asian food.
Points 17.25

Love Huber wines. I tasted several of them when I went to Austria. I even visited one of their vineyards. Lovely wines. My favorite is the Riesling Terrassen.

Hi Barry,

Thanks for the shout-out, upon which I've just stumbled. Glad to see you're enjoying Huber's wines. His entry-level "Hugo" is the best selling GV on the American market but it's wines like Berg, Terrassen and Alte Setzen that really show the promise of his estate. And it doesn't hurt that Markus couldn't be a nicer guy.
