Grüner Chameleon

Fritz Hirtzberger Grüner Veltliner
Smaragd Rotes Tor 2011
Wachau, Austria

Young Smaragd can sometimes be a bit lip-smacking at first until the baby fat calms down. No such case here...delicious balance of acidity and fruit...spring flowers rose from the glass...green apples...and the palate was aroused by the zippy fruit...really lovely mouthful here...exotic at times...and I ate a mixed salad with it...and the wine was like a 'chameleon'...seemingly taking on all the ingredients. Delicious even now...could even improve.
