A Couple Of Secrets

A couple of lesser known properties in Germany.

Zehnthof Luckert
Silvaner Gelbkalk 2011

Franconia, Germany

This property is highly rated in Franconia...and the area has always been associated with the grape. A nose of yellow fruits...a mix of apples and pears...minerality...lovely lively stuff...cinammon on the palate and a gentle steeliness making a wine at the price...€ 15,-- that is worth testing folks.
A great summer wine but to be taken seriously.
Points 16

Really less known is a property I visited a few years ago...we drove and drove...trees and woods closed in...and suddenly we arrived at the yard. Bio vegetables in one corner...and a simple door to an office in the other where I bought a few bottles. The last bottle had pleased...
Weingut Höfflin Spätburgunder trocken
Barrique Prestige 2007
Baden, Germany
Medium deep with a fading orange rim...this is delightfully light with grainy fruit...easy tannins...it won't knock you off your chair...but retains your interest and was surprisingly good next day.
Points 16.5
